"To Hare is Human" from 1956 is the last of the Warner Brothers cartoons made at the legendary "Termite Terrace" (as the animators named it). Today, that is the Sunset/Bronson lot. After that, they moved to the gigantic Burbank studio lot that we know of today as Warner Brothers Studios.

This cartoon was directed by Chuck Jones and is one of the rare ones to feature Wile E Coyote and Bugs Bunny. In it, Wile E. Coyote used the "Univac" machine to determine how to get Bugs Bunny. He presses various buttons and levers that describe the situation he is facing and the machine gives him the answer of what to do. Little does Wile know that the machine is actually Bugs!

The legendary Philip DeGuard painted this background of one of the panels on the Univac machine. In the cartoon, Wile switches the "Combination Lock" lever - which is why the level is not present on the background (it would have been painted on cels because it moved). We've posted a number of screen-caps from the short above.

NOTE: There has been some water damage to it. We included 2 versions of a scan of the front of the background. The one that looks like it has LESS damage is actually how the background looks in real life. However, we included a version where we upped the shadows to show the slight waviness present on the paper of the front. Other than the waviness on the unpainted front border, the water damage does not appear to have affected the image on the front, even though it looks fairly dramatic on the back.

We will mount this gorgeous piece of art in an acid-free, 4-ply double paper mat that measures 11" x 14" - so just buy your own frame and hang it in your home gallery. Note: we only use archival/acid-free materials in mounting your artwork.

If you want us to leave it un-matted (so that you can mat it), please let us know IMMEDIATELY after you purchase it or we will mat it.
